My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys– the ones she doesn’t want. Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her.
Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water–just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.
And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.
Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.

The storm is coming. . .

Becca Chandler is a junior in high school. Everything seemed to be going well until her ex-boyfriend starts spreading nasty rumors. Becca soon finds herself at the bottom of the popularity ladder. Then her life takes a turn. She saves a hot guy’s life. The guy happens to be none other than Chris Merrick, the youngest of four brothers. She doesn’t know it right away, but Chris is different. He and his four brothers can control the elements. Chris has power over water – a modern Poseidon? But things aren’t all good and right in the world. Because Chris and his brothers can control elements, it puts them in danger – a lot. Now that Becca knows the truth about the Merrick siblings she is in danger as well. Chris does what he can to keep her safe. Then Hunter shows up. He always seems to show up at the right moment, or not the right moment. There is something about him that doesn’t sit well Chris, but Becca insists that he can be trusted. Things then start to spiral downhill. Guides start showing up – they fear the Merrick’s and people like them. Stuff happens, Chris saves her life. Someone is found to be working with the Guides, fears are realized.

I loved this book. At first I was skeptical. The cover was strange. Four hot guys giving you the smolder was unusual to see on book covers. Yes, I judged a book on it’s cover, but once I started to read it I found it amazing. It was full of action from the moment you started reading. You were instantly immersed in Becca’s life, and how it seemed to be collapsing around her. Once Chris enters the picture, you know that there is chemistry. I love how Chris will put others before himself. He tends to distance himself – so people won’t get hurt. I guess by being a badass water bender while trying to avoid The Guides is a full time occupation. This book, it has you enamored within the first chapter. When I first got this book I couldn’t put it down. It was a pain, because I wasn’t able to read it during class. Knowing it was in my backpack mocking me sucked. I highly recommend you read this book. It has everything a good book needs. A great author, action, romance, hot guys and conflict. It helped that the characters were relatable. They weren’t fake. The fact that Becca had to deal with the evils of high school is completely normal. Guys like her ex, they exist and they do treat girls the way Becca was treated. The characters weren’t like those you see on TV, where their lives seem to be ultimately perfect and without faults. I think that because the characters were so relatable, it was the main reason I was so drawn to the book. Because Chris cares so much for Becca he is willing to make himself unhappy to do so. If you love them let them go – right? If they don’t come back they weren’t yours to begin with. You get to delve into Chris’s family. You get to read about the hardships he faces, and as well as the ones his siblings face. Overall the book is definitely worth reading. SO GO READ IT. (:
