*IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THIS BOOK, OR THE PREVIOUS BOOKS, YOU MAY NOT WANT TO READ THIS SLIGHTLY SPOILERY REVIEW.*
Sadly you don’t get to read about ice-boy and his problems, or Robin Goodfellow and his pranks, but in the fifth book of The Iron Fey series you meet tough-guy Ethan Chase. Once upon a time he had been taken into the Nevernever in order to lure his sister there. After having been ‘tortured’ – for lack of a better word – he was able to go home as long as his sister (Meghan) stayed in Faery. Ethan has grown up without his sister, and you learn that he hates her for leaving. He hates the fact that she left him to rule the Iron Kingdom.
This book follows Ethan through his own trials. He is known to have a bad boy reputation that causes him problems. He distanced himself from everyone. Basically at first he comes across as a colossal jackass. You soon meet Mackenzie St. James, who won’t leave him alone. She is curious about him, and off limits. Ethan tries to distance himself, but she is intent on getting to know him. Ethan starts to change. He opens up the more he is with Kenzie. Ethan can see the fey, and it drives him crazy. He wants them to leave him alone and he in turn wants to be able to not see them. Strange things start to occur. A long forgotten type of fey have returned. No one knows who they are. Things start to spiral downhill, when they take a class mate, and then in turn go after Ethan and Kenzie. They end up in Faery, and are greeted by none other than Grimalkin – everyones favorite talking cat!
For the first time in years, Ethan is reunited with Meghan. Then we meet Keirran – Meghan and Ash’s son. He embodies his father – so it is almost like we still have ice-boy in the picture. He is reckless, and helps Ethan and Kenzie escape from the Iron Palace. [INSERT GRAND ADVENTURE. FULL OF FEY FIGHTING, PEOPLE GETTING KIDNAPPED, GETTING HELP FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES, BLOOD, AND RUTHLESS ENEMIES.]
This book filled the void. I wanted to read a book about fey, and attractive, moody guys, and Julie delivered. I may have been jealous of all those people who had ARC’s of this book, but I think waiting made it better. The anticipation was enormous! If you want to dive into a world where anything is possible, and gremlins are the cutest things ever, this book is for you. I highly recommend it. Once you start reading you will not want to stop. You will fall in love with the sweet, handsome, tough-guy Ethan, and half-breed, charming, like father like son Keirran. (:
GO READ THIS BOOK IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY!!!
