I haven’t done a Wrap-Up post since February– oops.
I’m going to quickly list all the books I’ve read since February (not reviewing them, though if I have the review up for them, I’ll link it) and then I’ll jump into the TEN books I read/listened to in the month of May.
May was a pretty solid reading month, and I enjoyed everything I read/listened to – some more than others, but that’s to be expected.
March –
◊ Royally Matched – Emma Chase
Finished: March 1, 2018
(review)
◊ Invisible Ghosts – Robyn Schneider
Finished: March 2, 2018
(review)
April –
◊ The Wendy – Erin Michelle Sky & Steven Brown
Finished: April 17, 2018
(review to come)
Finally,
May –
- To Kill a Kingdom – Alexandra Christo – 5
Audio Book Finished: May 3, 2018
I won’t go into too much detail for this book, since I do have a full review posted, but I absolutely loved this book. If you’re looking for a dark retelling of The Little Mermaid with a Prince Killer, a Pirate Prince Siren Killer, action, bad-assery, drama and sass, then you should definitely pick this up!
- Avenged – Amy Tintera – 4
Audio Book Finished: May 8, 2018
The second installment to the Ruined Trilogy, the story picks right up where the first one left off, and it does not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will have a review up soon that goes more in depth on my thoughts and feelings. I love Emilia and Cas together, I cannot wait to see what happens in the finale, Allied.
- Furyborn – Claire Legrand – 4.25
ARC Finished: May 14, 2018
I have a review up for Furyborn so I won’t go into too much detail. I can’t believe I have to wait a year for book two! This was one of my most anticipated 2018 reads, and it did not disappoint. I found myself caring more about Eliana, but I did enjoy Rielle. Though if I had to choose, I’d definitely choose Eliana and Simon, over Rielle and Audric. I just found myself more invested in Eliana’s journey to finding who she’s supposed to be.
- Ash Princess – Laura Sebastian – 4.5
ARC Finished: May 15, 2018
THIS. BOOK. I absolutely loved this book, and upon finishing it, I was dying for the next. I do have a whole review posted for this book, so I’m not going to go into too much detail, but I will say, if you haven’t read this yet, do so! A princess held captive in her own kingdom, and a plan to retrieve her throne, except, what if someone you thought was bad, turns out to be the opposite? What if you find yourself loving him?
- The Wish Granter – C.J. Redwine – 4.25
Audio Book Finished: May 16, 2018
The second book in the Ravenspire series, I was hesitant to initially start this. I loved The Shadow Queen so much, and wasn’t thrilled that the characters wouldn’t carry over, but oh my god, I actually might like this one more than the first one. A Rumpelstiltskin retelling, and it does not disappoint! I’ll have a review for this book up soon, but two final words – Sebastian Vaughn.
- Ruthless Magic – Megan Crewe 3.75
ARC Finished: May 19, 2018
I have a whole review up for this book, so I’ll be brief. I was lucky to read an advance copy of this book, and having not read anything by Megan Crewe before, I wasn’t entirely sure what I should expect. This was a little slow to get into but, once I was in, I was invested. It takes place in a magic New York, set a little bit into the future, where some teenagers have to take the Exam in order to keep their magical abilities.
- A Court of Frost and Starlight – Sarah J. Maas – 3.5
Hardcover Finished: May 20, 2018
There will be a whole review up soon, but RHYS AND FEYRE! It was nice to come back to these characters. I’m kind of conflicted on this book, because I ended up wanting more. Yes, I know it’s a novella, a bridge to the next book, but I wanted more story, more focus on just Rhys and Feyre. It follows A Court of Wings and Ruin and we get to see all the characters, and what their lives are like post ACOWAR.
- The Fates Divide – Veronica Roth – 4
Audio Book Finished: May 21, 2018
Review to come soon – this is the finale/second installment to Carve the Mark and oh my god was it good. I really enjoyed CTM so I’m thrilled that Veronica Roth concluded this story in such a good way. I love Akos and Cyra, and there are parts of this book that will blow your mind.
- The Dark Calling – Kresley Cole – 3.75
Audio Book Finished: May 23, 2018
Okay, so I’m going to preface this with, I went into this book thinking it was the FINALE of The Arcana Chronicles – it’s not. I thought I was decided on who I wanted Evie with, Aric (Death) but this book made me reevaluate EVERYTHING. This book set up the finale, and I cannot wait to find out how this series will conclude.
- Daughter of the Pirate King – Tricia Levenseller – 4.75
Audio Book Finished: May 24, 2018
MORE PIRATES! MORE SIRENS! I’ve seen the hype that surrounds this book, and I’m happy to say that it’s well deserved. Alosa and Riben – oh my god! Their relationship and banter was perfect – I want a Riben. This book was SO good, so good in fact I went and bought Daughter of the Siren Queen that same day. I can’t wait to see what happens next. My review will be posted soon.
I’m 25 books into the year, and there are very few that I haven’t really enjoyed, but that’s my May Wrap-Up! There won’t be a June TBR post, but I will have a bunch of reviews and other bookish posts coming up in the coming weeks!
