Books/Series I Need to REREAD in 2019 Pt. 1

I thought I’d do this new short run little series on my blog about “Books/Series I Need to ____blank____ in 2019” I.e. reread, finish, DNF, unhaul, buy etc. This one clearly falls into the reread category.

This is definitely more of a wish list rather than a definitive “I need to read these right now” because 9 times out of 10 I make TBR lists, or piles and I never EVER stick to them.

So, this is probably going to be more like a “I should reread these, because it’s been years and I don’t remember them, but I’m also in a reading rut and who knows what books will make me WANT to pick up a book again” list.

There is this fear though, of rereading these books and not liking them as much as I did when I initially read them, and while I might not remember exactly what happened, or who ended up with who, I remember loving and really enjoying them. This is probably the biggest reason as to why I keep putting off the rereads.

Basically, it’s me putting this out there, and maybe you can convince me that I HAVE to pick these books up again, so that they aren’t just a wish list that I’ve posted to this blog.

Some of these series I need to reread as refreshers to newer books that have recently come out.

(These are in no particular order)

Grisha Trilogy – Leigh Bardugo

Shatter Me Series – Tahereh Mafi

Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children – Ransom Riggs

The Elemental Series – Brigid Kemmerer

These are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head while not looking at my shelves. So, more thank likely there will be another post about more books I need to reread, because there are definitely more than aren’t coming to mind right now.

With that being said, I don’t want to keep mumbling about how I’m going to keep this post short – and then it ends up being LONG. So I’m ending it here.

What books on your shelves, or that you’ve read A LONG TIME AGO that you need to reread? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Here’s hoping you get to enjoy these series again just like the first time or even better! Let’s be positive about it–even when sometimes rereads make us see that some books weren’t really that great but oh well. The main series I feel like re-reading someday is The Hunger Games because it’s that series that STARTED IT ALL for me! And possibly even Twilight, who knows?!

    Great post!

    1. I’d be into rereading The Hunger Games – not sure about Twilight though, I have a feeling that series REALLY won’t hold up. I do reread The Host quite often, and always enjoyed that more than the Twilight books. (Still bitter the other books never happened.)
I’m currently rereading the Covenant Series by Jennifer L Armentrout and I love them now just as much as I loved them back when I first read them.

It’s been so long since I read some of these books, it just feels right to read them – I hope when you reread they hold up for you as well! And thank you! 🙂

      1. Haha, that’s the main reason I’d be willing to check it out–even if it’s just the first 50 pages–just to see how it goes and how I feel about it after ALL THESE YEARS! Honestly, we’re all bitter and upset about The Host and the fact that we never got the next book nor we were able to see how Wanda and Mel would’ve gotten but oh well.

I’ve heard great things about that series so I’m glad it’s still just as powerful as it was back then! And no problem, you’re welcome. I hope the same too because if the Hunger Games fails me after all this time I WILL BE SAD–except for Mockingjay, I like to pretend that never happened 🙂

  2. I will forever be bitter about the Host.
I rewatch the movie quiet often lol

I just recently rewatched all the Hunger Games movies (some of the best adaptations imo) and I forgot how much I loved them, the world, the characters, and for a brief moment I nearly reread them, but so many other things outweighed the need.

There’s only one part in Mockjay I refuse to accept. The Death That Never Should Have Happened.
Around that time there was a Hunger Games: Finnick and Annie Web Series that I adored. by MainstayPro.
Ugh, just thinking about it makes me mad. lol and the whole Gale thing. ugghh.
