We all do this. We see a new book and we buy and read it and then we find out that it’s part of a series. Or we know it’s part of a series and continue to buy the next books even though we have no intention of reading them right away.
I’m guilty of this. I couldn’t tell you how many book series I’ve started and continued to buy even if I’ve only read the first book. For the sake of not making this an infinitely long post and to keep my sanity, I’m going to limit it to 5 series. As a guideline I’m going to consider anything 3 books or more.
The Lunar Chronicles – Marissa Meyer
I can’t tell you why I haven’t finished this series. Honestly no reason. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read in the series – Cinder, Scarlet, Cress (in part), I just haven’t finished them. Maybe I fell into a slump or something, but I really do need to finish them.
The Dark Artifices – Cassandra Clare
This should really extend to her entire shadow hunter universe minus (The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices) I’m woefully behind on all of it. I read Lady Midnight – well I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. Didn’t enjoy the Lord of Shadows audiobook, nearly put me to sleep at work. They’re such gigantic books I don’t really want to carry them around. I need to finish them and one day I will…hopefully.
Percy Jackson Series – Rick Riordan
Don’t judge me for this one. I’ve only read up to book 4 of the initial series. I own all the books, I just haven’t finished them. The only reason I can give for these is there are so many books and I have so little time. Also I think I know I’ll love them and want to binge them and right now I just don’t have the time to do that.
The Program Series – Suzanne Young
I remember picking up The Program in my local Barnes and Nobles because I hadn’t seen anything like it. The cover is stark white with yellow, a bright light amongst the darker covers. I’ve read the first 3, and have continued to buy the new books. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read and know I’ll really like the series so far, but again, no time. It’s a problem.
The Witchlands – Susan Dennard
Now I know I’m gonna get some much crap for this one, but I’m trying my best to rectify that this month! Sightwitch and Bloodwitch are on my TBR and I really want to get to them this month. I absolutely loved Truthwitch and Windwitch was amazing, so I know these next two books are gonna be equally as good. After the two books I’m currently reading (one HC, one audiobook), these are my top priorities!
I know I have some catching up to do…a lot of it actually. But you know how it is, TBR’s continue to grow rapidly and we can only read so fast. I’ve made it a goal this year to read more of my backlist (as well as new releases). It’s meant that less money is being spent (yay for my bank account) and more of the books I already own are finally being read.
QOTD: what is one series that you’ve started and having finished yet?
I have read the first two books in the remnant chronicles and I’m yet to start the third and final one! But I must say, Winter was my favorite and honestly the best on in the series so I hope you’d get to it soon 🙂
