Writing Update #21

I *think* I may have already talked about this on my blog, but honestly, this past month has been such a blur, I don’t remember.

I’m pretty sure I screamed about it onTwitter, so maybe that’s what I’m remembering. But either way

I HAD A FUCKING BREAKTHROUGH.

Oh my god. It feels so good to say that.

Though, with that being said, I still really didn’t work on my WIP this past month. I know I’ve said this, but between work and Codigo, I have very little time or energy to write. I currently exist in a state of constant exhaustion – it’s great. And with NaNoWriMo starting Sunday…my SF WIP is going to have to wait a little longer.

NaNoWriMo 2020 – Here We Go Again!

NaNo might kill me this year.

Well, NaNo on top of work, and Codigo and blogging…it might kill me this year. But I can’t bring myself not to do it. I always enjoy it and look forward to it each year.

So, I’m going to try. I’m not going to take it too seriously.

Though, knowing me, I’ll force myself to finish it, to get to the 50k mark. I’m too stubborn not to.

Currently Reading & Watching #20

I am and I am not shocked that it’s the end of another month. I know time feels shorter because it’s relative to age and how you perceive it, but damn if 2020 isn’t a freaking time warp.

I haven’t physically read many books this month – with work occupying like 60% of my time, and Codigo occupying like 35% of my time, it leaves very little time for me.

And quite honestly, I hate it.

These days, if it’s not an audiobook, or an eARC I have some kind of commitment (other than just reviewing it) I rarely touch a physical book, or even an eCopy. Y’all. That’s how I destress, and I’ve barely been able to do that so I’m in a fantastic place right now lol.

I digress…like always, so let’s take a look at what I’m currently reading and watching.

A curse that has turned him into the monster that he is.
He wasn’t supposed to destroy cities. He’s one of the Celestials meant to save humanity.

Everything feels off—especially me. I’ve returned to Katmere Academy, but I’m haunted by fragments of days I have no recollection of living and struggling to understand who, or what, I really am.

Just when I start to feel safe again, Hudson is back with a vengeance. He insists there are secrets I don’t know about, threatening to drive a wedge between Jaxon and me forever. But far worse enemies are at our doorstep.

The Circle is caught in a power play and the Vampire Court is trying to drag me out of my world and into theirs. The only thing Hudson and Jaxon agree on is that leaving Katmere would mean my certain death.

Book Rec – Curse of Blood and Shadow (Allied Kingdoms Academy #1)

Maybe y’all are getting tired of book rec posts – if you are, I’m sorry.

I’m not going to stop.

I’ve been seeing ads for this book all over my social media accounts. All. Over. I’ve clicked on it a few times, but I’ll be completely honest – I don’t really like the cover. Pretty much every book I end up purchasing from ads is in part due to the cover. I kind of skimmed past this one because I wasn’t keen on the cover.

Well, I’m a dumbass, because this book actually sounds utterly amazing?

Curse of Blood and Shadow – J.M. Kearl

Cursed with visions of death. Cursed to die. Cursed to be a bloodthirsty monster. One thing is clear at the Allied Kingdoms Academy, curses abound and no one is safe.

I was born a cursed princess. A curse that makes me hesitant to touch anyone, afraid I’ll foresee their death and won’t be able to stop it.

NetGalley October’20 Update

Yesterday was a day and I came home from work, took two shots of tequila, walked Codigo and then promptly fell asleep for an hour.

Suffice to say, my planned post for today wasn’t going to happen, but I did promise you all a NetGalley/ARC Update, so here it is. Somehow I keep getting approved for ARCs, even though I’m barely reading them right now. I feel terrible about it, but between work, Codigo, life and finding the energy, ARCs are falling by the wayside…unless I have a blog tour commitment or something. I’m really hoping that changes soon, because reading is a de-stressor for me, and not being able to read is driving me out of my mind.

I don’t really count audiobooks, just because I miss reading physical books. Don’t get me wrong, I love audiobooks, but listening for at least 6.5 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week – I very quickly burn myself out and then I’m not reading anything.

Cerys is safe in the kingdom of Aloriya.

Here there are no droughts, disease, or famine, and peace is everlasting. It has been this way for hundreds of years, since the first king made a bargain with the Lady who ruled the forest that borders the kingdom. But as Aloriya prospered, the woods grew dark, cursed, and forbidden. Cerys knows this all too well: when she was young, she barely escaped as the woods killed her friends and her mother. Now Cerys carries a small bit of the curse—the magic—in her blood, a reminder of the day she lost everything. The most danger she faces now, as a gardener’s daughter, is the annoying fox who stalks the royal gardens and won’t leave her alone.
