Book Review: Opposition (Lux #5)

Title: Opposition

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Pub. Date: August 5, 2014

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

This will be a spoiler free review. I listened to the audiobook via Audible.

I forgot how good the ending to this series is. Granted, it’s been 6 years since I read it last. I honestly remembered nothing going into this book and actually questioned if I’d read it.

I had, I’m just dumb and don’t retain stuff from books I read 6+ years ago.

Anyways.

This book is so goo and it provides such a good ending to the whole series. It wraps up nicely, but not without consequence. They have to trust sworn enemies and face off against and even greater one. Besides their own lives and those they care about – the fate of humanity is in their hands and if they don’t succeed…well, life as they know it will cease to exist.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and what the characters had to go through. I think Jen ended this series perfectly – and if you want more, you can pick up the Origin series and see some familiar faces. Daemon and Katy’s story will always be a favorite and from time to time it’ll be fun to go back and revisit it. Jen knows how to tell a story that hooks you right from the beginning and her characters are always amazing. It’s so easy to fall in love and get swept away, and then suddenly you’re wishing that hot aliens will move into the empty house next door.

I definitely recommend checking out the Lux series if you haven’t already. You really can’t go wrong and you’re missing out on Daemon Black.
