The Christmas Song Book Tag

HOW is it Christmas Eve? I don’t understand it. I don’t get it and I have absolutely nothing wrapped. I have to work a half day today – kinda bummed about that, but 4 hours and then I’m off until January 4, 2021. And you sure as hell can bet that I’ll be reading my entire break.

Anyways, I’m back with another tag I found over on Michella’s blog – YaBooksGirl. I’m absolutely loving her content and she’s done some great tags that all happen to be a lot of fun to do. I’ve linked her blog post for this tag, so you should head on over and check out her answers.

I tag anyone and everyone who wants to do this tag! If you do, do it, please let me know so I can check out your post and your answers!

You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch: Name a villainous character you couldn’t help but love.

Are we talking *true* villain or just an antagonist, because I can’t think of a villain I actually love. But antagonist or perceived villain – that’s easier. Still hard, but easier.

Um, I think I have to go with the Mafia Boss from my current read – Jarod Adler. I’m kind of in love with him. I have a weakness for tough guys who are really just softies who need a hug.

All I Want for Christmas is You: Which book to you most hope to see under your Christmas tree?

I’ve bought just about any and every book I’ve wanted this year, so there really isn’t anything. I did ask for the BN Hardcover of Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, but if I were to wish big then the UK ARCs for A Curse so Dark and Lonely and A Heart so Fierce and Broken. I would love those copies for my Brigid Kemmerer Collection.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: Name a character that overcomes major obstacles and learns to believe in themselves.

Reille from the Blade and Rose Series. That girl goes through so much. She was strong prior to her traumas, but phew…coming out the other side knowing what she wants, what she deserves and taking what she can…it’s heartwarming and inspiring.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town:
a) Which character do you think would be on the top of the naughty list?
b) Which character do you think would be at the top of the nice list?

Ooo, let’s think about this.

Naughty: Nola Verin

Nice: Hudson Vega

Yep, I stand by these answers.

Frosty the Snowman: Which book just melts your heart?

Only a Breath Apart. I honestly don’t know what it is about that book, but it spoke to me and I love it. I recommend it to everyone. Katie McGarry artfully crafted that book and had me connecting to it and falling in love. It’s not a cutesy romcom or anything, but it’s just so good.

Feliz Navidad: Choose a book that takes place in a country other than your own.

I’m assuming we’re not talking about fantasy worlds, so this is probably a tie between City of Brass – okay Daevabad is fictional, but Egypt is in the book! And The Court of Miracles – I blame Les Mis, but I’m slightly enamored (that sounds bad) with the French Revolution? Like, the romanticized version and it’s 100% Les Mis’ fault. Please don’t judge me lol

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Which holiday themed book do you use to spread the Christmas joy?

I don’t have a holiday themed book…I can’t actually think of one. But a book I often recommend is More Than We Can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer. It’s just so good and always a wonderful re-read.

Sleigh Ride: Which fictional character would you choose to spend the holidays with (doesn’t have to be a love interest!)

Keiran from the Blood and Ash series. He just seems like he’d be great company. Not to mention the company he keeps is pretty great as well. It would be a great time.

Also, I’d totally spend the holidays with Thomas Cresswell. Hands down.

Baby it’s Cold Outside: Which book that you didn’t like would you sacrifice to a fire to warm yourself up in the cold? This is a little mean so I’m altering it to: What book would you like to cuddle up in front of the fireplace and binge?

Oh, there are quite a few…and I’m going to answer the OG prompt and the altered one.

OG: Red Queen, Queen of Nothing, Inkheart, Zenith…just to name a few. I’d lose no sleep over sacrificing these books.

ALT: Song of the Marked. I’ve been dying to read it since I bought it, and now that I’ve read the authors other series that takes place in the same world, I’m even more excited to dive into it.

Do You Hear What I Hear: Which book do you think everyone should read?

Air Awakens by Elise Kova. Really, I recommend the whole series, but start with book 1, let it hook you and then you’ll want to binge the whole series. There are technically 13 across 2 full series and 3 novellas, so you might want to have them all on hand when you start.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I hope you have a wonderful Holidays!
