Happy New Year! I hope everyone rang in the new year in some kind of fun fashion. It was a doozy of a year, and I legit feels like we just celebrate NYE 2020, yet here we are. It’s the first day of 2021 and I’m probably still in bed while you’re reading this.
I’m not a morning person on most days, so I’m definitely not a morning person, January 1st after drinking all night. But before I jump into this tag I found over on Clara’s Blog –The Bookworm of Notre Dame – I have a few housekeeping announcements.
Firstly – I’m still running the Radar Posts Giveaway – so if you haven’t seen or entered yet, make sure you do! I’ll be announcing the winners on January 6th. The entry window closes at Midnight of January 5th. So, you have time! I’ve linked it above so check it out.
Second – You might notice some changes in the way I format my posts. I’m going to try something a tiny bit new, a little more detailed. Depending on how time consuming this becomes, it might disappear depending how busy I am.
Third – while I’m always going to formulate this blog to what I like to write and present to y’all, I was wondering if there was anything in particular, you’d like to see. If there is, leave a comment below. I’m hoping now that work is out of Winter Rush, I’ll have a quite a bit more time to create content for Writing the Universe – and honestly just create I general. Or, if there is something you just want to see more of/less of, let me know.
Finally, not much else is going to change – I’m still going to be keeping up my series and I have a few reviews coming down the line. You can also look forward to a week packed full of posts next week. There are so many releases, plus my usual beginning of the months post. I also have my 2021 Anticipated Reads Lists coming at you, plus a new TBR, December Haul and Wrap Up Posts and so much more. I’m honestly not sure how I’m going to fit it all in.
Now, with that out of the way, let’s jump into this book tag! Make sure you check out Clara’s answers – and if you want to do this tag, then I’m tagging you!
❥ How many books are you planning to read in 2021?
Hopefully at least 100 – I read 166 in 2020 – so it should be doable. But i don’t know if that’s what I want to set my GR Goal at. I might start with a reasonable 75 and go up from there.
❥ Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2021.
Lol tbh there are SO MANY, but if I have to pick only 5:
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin – Rosanne A. Brown // Song of the Marked – S.M. Gaither // Skin Curse – Kristin Jacques // The Tethered Mage – Melissa Caruso // My So-Called Bollywood Life – Nisha Sharma
❥ What genre do you want to read more of?
YA contemporary/romcoms – I’ve been slowly falling back in love with the genre and I can’t wait for the ones coming out this year!
❥ Name 3 non book related goals for 2021.
- Finish my SF WIP Revisions & start querying (tacking on – start a new project)
- Grow my social media presence (Twitter, Instagram, blog)
- Get Codigo to stop fucking spite peeing when he gets pissy
❥ What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?
Ugh, tbh there are so many, but I’m going to have to go with Lord of Shadows. I’ve tried reading it so many times, but it’s just a massive book. I’ve tried the audiobook, but the narrator puts me to sleep. It’s also been SO LONG since I read Lady Midnight idk if I remember what happened in it. Which makes me feel like I need to reread it, so I do none of it.
❥ One word that your hoping 2021 will be.
Successful – but I’m lazy and procrastinate so who knows lol. I’m optimistic!
And that’s it! If you do, do this tag, feel free to send me the link so I can check out your answers. I have no idea what 2021 is going to have in store, but I have a feeling that I’m going to be reading a bunch of amazing books, finishing my revisions and (fingers crossed) querying! Maybe some other things might happen, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see. I’ll also probably drink my weight and then some in coffee, but that’s not out of the ordinary. But for now, I’m going to go knock out and sleep and thoroughly wreck my sleep schedule for when I have to go back to work on Monday!
Happy New Year 🎊
