Fave & Least Fave Books of 2020

I really had no intention of doing one of these posts, but then there was all that drama surrounding these kinds of posts on the internet. So, I decided to say, “fuck it” and here’s mine.

For the most part, I enjoyed the majority of what I read this year. I’m pretty good at choosing books I know I’m going to enjoy, but that isn’t always foolproof.

Since I did enjoy the majority of what I read this past year – a lot of 4/5 star reads, I obviously cannot list them all, so here are just a few standouts – and no re-reads.

Favorite:

The Bone Charmer (The Bone Charmer #1) – Breeana Shields

Greythorne (Bloodleaf #2) – Crystal Smith

Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1) – Cassandra Clare

House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) – Sarah J. Maas

Crystal Caged (Air Awakens: Vortex Chronicles #5) – Elise Kova

Crave (Crave #1) – Tracy Wolff

You’d be Mine – Erin Hahn

The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom #1) – Danielle L. Jensen

Shielded (Shielded #1) – KayLynn Flanders

The Obsidian Tower (Rooks and Ruin #1) – Melissa Caruso

City of Brass (The Davaebad Trilogy #1) – S.A. Chakraborty

Fable (Fable #1) – Adrienne Young

Queen of the Shining Sea (Blade and Rose #4) – Miranda Honfleur

Kingdom of Flesh and Fire (Blood and Ash #2) – Jennifer L. Armentrout

To Sleep in A Sea of Stars – Christopher Paolini

A Vow So Bold and Deadly (Cursebreakers #3) – Brigid Kemmerer

Lore – Alexandra Bracken

And before I jump into my least favorite reads – let me preface it by saying that just because I didn’t like these books, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad books. They just weren’t for me and/or I didn’t enjoy them as much as I anticipated or thought I would.

Least Favorite:

Havenfall (Havenfall #1) – Sarah Holland

Wicked as You Wish (A Hundred Names for Magic #1) – Ric Chupeco

Diamond City (The City of Diamond and Steel #1) – Francesca Flores

Maybe This Time – Kasie West

Chasing Lucky – Jenn Bennett

Song of Storms (Song and Storm #1) – Kayla Maya

The Betrothed (The Betrothed #1) – Kiera Cass

Ember Queen (Ash Princess Trilogy #1) – Laura Sebastain

Journey’s Through Faladon – The Ruins Song Order

The Princess Will Save You (Kingdoms of Sand and Sky #1) – Sarah Henning

White Raven (Raven #1) – J.L. Weil

I can’t wait to see what books I read this year – I’m really excited! I’ve already read some pretty good books, so I can only imagine what’s still to come!

    1. ooo ACTOAR is always fun! I reread it last year as well and remembered why I fell in love with it. So glad you loved it!! And I haven’t read ten thousand doors of january, but that’s a bummer you didn’t like it. I hate it when that happens.

    1. Ooo, you’re going to love both. They’re so good. I was a little apprehensive going into Fable since I haven’t been the biggest fan of the author’s past work, but it was just so good and easily bingeable. and Lore was just wonderful and the relationship between her and Castor is perfect.
I hope you read so many amazing books this year! 🤗
