Author Spotlight: Audrey Grey

I know, I know.

I’m recommending a lot of authors and a lot of books, but for good reason.

I stumbled upon Audrey’s books when I saw a post about Our Dark Stars, which she co-wrote with author Krystal Wade. I fell in love with that book, so I went looking for more.

Suddenly I was seeing Oath Taker – the first book in the Kingdom of Runes Series everywhere, and I knew I had to pick it up. It was marketed as “for fans of Sarah J. Maas” so you know that I needed it.

So, I bought a copy.

I read it…well, more like, inhaled it.

And now I wait anxiously and impatiently for her to release books.

At this point, I’ve read almost everything she’s written, and I honestly can’t get enough. The only series I’m still behind on – but I have read the first book – is the Shadow Fall series. And I don’t have a good excuse as to why I haven’t finished it yet.

I legit cannot recommend her books enough – especially the Kingdom of Runes series. Evermore Academy is also very good – so if you’re looking for fantasy reads, those are great options. If you’re looking for more of a science fiction read, then either Our Dark Stars or the Shadow Fall series – you won’t be disappointed.

Now, let me introduce you to the first books in all these series –

Our Dark Stars

While she sleeps, the whole universe changes.

Princess Talia Starchaser has it all. Wealth. S

tatus. Adoring citizens. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she’s forced to publicly betray her best friend, a companion mock she’s had since birth, setting events into motion that lead to the destruction of the humans, and the princess floating through space, a remnant of a time when humans ruled over droids.

One hundred years later, half-mock captain Will Perrault and his ragtag crew discover a device floating in space. When a very human Talia emerges from its depths, Will suspects she’s the key to buying his way back into the regiment he once commanded against the last remaining rebel humans—and the ruling mock queen’s good graces.

Both Talia and Will would rather get space-tossed than trust one another, but with the queen’s forces chasing them across the galaxy and the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance, they’ll forge the unlikeliest of alliances to survive.

Oath Taker (Kingdom of Runes #1)

Light magic is forbidden.
Dark magic spells death.
Haven has both.

After the Prince of Penryth saved her from captivity, seventeen-year-old Haven Ashwood spends her days protecting the kind prince and her nights secretly fighting the monsters outside the castle walls.
When one of those monsters kidnaps Prince Bell, Haven must ally with Archeron Halfbane and his band of immortals to rescue her friend.
Her quest takes her deep into the domain of a warped and vicious queen where the rules are simple: break her curse or die.
Lost in a land of twisted magic and fabled creatures, Haven finds herse
lf unprepared, not just for the feelings she develops for Archeron, but for the warring powers raging inside her.
Her rare and forbidden type of magic may be their only hope . . . but mixing light and dark comes with a steep price.

Haven’s soul.

Faced with impossible love, heartbreaking betrayals, and a queen intent on destroying the realm, only one thing remains certain.
Haven must shatter the curse or it will devour everything she loves.

Winter (Evermore Academy #1)

Welcome to Evermore Academy where the magic is dark, the immortals are beautiful, and being human SUCKS.

After spending my entire life avoiding the creatures that murdered my parents, one stupid mistake binds me to them for four years.
My penance? Become a human shadow at the infamous Evermore Academy, finishing school for the Seelie and Unseelie Fae courts.
All I want is to keep a low profile, but day one, I make an enemy of the most powerful Fae in the academy.
The Winter Prince is arrogant, cruel, and apparently also my Fae keeper. Meaning I’m in for months of torture.
But it only gets worse. Something dark and terrible looms over the academy. Humans are dying, ancient vendettas are resurfacing, and the courts are more bloodthirsty than ever.

What can one mortal girl do in a world full of gorgeous monsters?

Fight back with everything I have—and try not to fall in love in the process.

Shadow Fall (Shadow Fall #1)

My name is Maia Graystone: prisoner, rebel, and reluctant savior of a dying world.

In exactly 552 hours, an asteroid will end life as we know it. Not that I’m counting or anything. Trapped inside a hellish prison with thieves and murderers, I have more current worries.
Like the brother I left behind or the not-so-friendly inmates or the fact that I’m wanted by the most powerful man in existence.
Then a mysterious benefactor breaks me out and offers the impossible: a spot in the Shadow Trials. Win and I’ll receive a coveted place for my brother and I on the space station in the stars.
But the opportunity comes at a steep price. Partner with a dashing psychopath, enter the court that once condemned me to death, survive the ruthless trials created by my own mother, and kill the Emperor–the very man who’s hunting me.
In this cunning game of life and death, nothing is as it seems and everyone expects me to fail. But they forgot one tiny detail.

Never underestimate the girl with nothing left to lose.

Ugh, I just love these series so much, and Audrey has quickly become an auto buy author. I’m currently dying for the next Kingdom of Runes books, because the ending to the last one has left me wrecked. Like, I don’t know what to do with my life now.

Trust me, if you want a great high fantasy series with a kick ass heroine and a dark broody love interest, you’re going to want to pick up Kingdom of Runes. If you want a school setting, a “I refuse to give up” heroine and a Prince, pick up Evermore Academy. If you want Sleeping Beauty in Space, then read Our Dark Stars and if you miss the YA dystopian days, then you definitely want to pick up the Shadow Fall series.

I hope y’all check out Audrey’s books. If you do, or if you’re already a fan – let me know! Because seriously, I don’t know how to cope with the reveal that happened at the end of Light Singer.

  1. I devoured the KoR series even though I was trying to wait since the next one is not until August. It was just so good I couldn’t help myself. Her writing gets better with each book and Light Singer was fantastic!

And the ending to Light Singer – that’s little info bomb Stolas drops – I’m dead. Anxious. And dead.
