It’s amazing the books you can acquire when you’re not at work.
I haven’t been at work since last Wednesday – I took so much needed time off – and I, uh, bought some books.
Like, I didn’t think twice and just One-Clicked them.
I’ve said it before, being able to One-Click books is so dangerous…but it’s so much fun. And so, satisfying. I need to know the books are readily available if and when I get the chance to read them, right? Also, what’s the point of working my ass of every day if I can spend my money on books that are going to mock me from my Kindle?
And they will mock me from my Kindle, because, do I have time to read them? I don’t know, maybe if work isn’t crazy, but probably not. And that fact annoys me, because all I want to do is read these books.
Queen of Empire is marketed like: New adult fantasy romance set in another world that feels almost contemporary. Perfect for fans of Divergent who want something a smidge more grown-up, with a unique, energy-based magic system, and political undertones.
Like, hello, was this written specifically for me?
Fortune Favors the Cruel enticed me with the stunning cover and I’m a sucker for anything high fantasy with romance. But also, these two lines sold me: His savior … or his destroyer. The only thing he didn’t predict was that she would become both.
Empire of Ash is another one where the cover grabbed me, and the synopsis sounded promising. But what really sold me was this: a dark, dangerous, and very sexy stranger steps from a swirl of shadows. And I ask again, was this written specifically for me, because this right here, a weakness.
Let me know if you’ve read any of these, or if I’ve convinced you to check them out!

Queen of Empire (The Relic Trilogy #1) – HR Moore
Anita has never been ordinary, she’s been special her entire life; not only can she see the energy of others, a rare skill, but she’s won every Body challenge she’s ever entered. So when the powerful, good looking Descendants, Marcus and Alexander, mysteriously arrive in Empire, her difference attracts and keeps their attention.
Once in Empire, the sudden death of ruling Body Descendant, Christiana, sets in motion a number of events; a quest for the treacherous Austin to find the girl Christiana had been looking for; a challenge where Anita stands out more vibrantly than ever before; a perilous dip in the world’s energy; and a dangerous belief among the people that they will never truly be free.
Powerful factions soon form within the ruling elite and when a trusted friend and mentor reaches out to ask for Anita’s help, she has to make a choice; help her friend and betray the one she loves, or do nothing and watch the people starve.
Trigger warnings for a possessive relationship and violence.
Contains sexual content.

Fortune Favors the Cruel (Dark Maji #1) – Kel Carpenter
Quinn Darkova, freed from the chains of slavery, wants nothing more than vengeance against those who sold her. But with her dark powers on the rise and her ascension nearing, Quinn’s blood retribution will have to wait in favor of her immediate survival.
Lazarus Fierté is a nobleman without equal. He’s as controlling as he is stubborn, and for the last six years he’s been waiting for a woman to appear—but not just any woman. A Maji of great power, capable of terrible things. She could be the key to everything he holds dear.
His savior … or his destroyer.
The only thing he didn’t predict was that she would become both.

Empire of Ash (God of Secrets #1) – L.R.W. Lee
Dangerous magic, a dark god, and ancient secrets.
Archaeologist Pellucid Rose discovers THE find of the century when an earthquake hits her Mycenae, Greece dig. But before she can claim it, a dark, dangerous, and very sexy stranger steps from a swirl of shadows claiming she’s loosed a sphinx on the world by translating an ancient secret on one of the scrolls.
What’s more, he insists Secret Magic requires her to go with him to capture the ferocious creature.
Against better judgment, Pell teams up with the hot stranger to discover a world of magic where the impossible is reality, crooked mortals hide corrupt secrets, and mysteries older than myth can kill you. That thought alone makes her heart race, but things get even worse when she discovers he’s hiding world-altering secrets, and only she has what it takes to stop him.
Oh I feel your pain because I have many books mocking me from my Kindle. What a great phrase. I like knowing they’re ready for me whenever I want. That makes it worth it!

LOL thanks! I’m glad I’m not alone.
I just create a bunch of collections to bide my time. 🙈
And then I can dive into whatever I’m looking for if I just want a quick read!
