Guilty Reader Book Tag

It’s bit a bit since I did a tag, and I was in the mood.

I stumbled upon this tag over on Adventures of a Bookish Girl and I loved it. I loved Anouk’s answers, and they made me really excited to do this myself. Make sure you check out Anouk’s post and give it a like – I’ve linked the post above.

So, let’s dive in!

HAVE YOU EVER REGIFTED A BOOK YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

I had to think about this one, and I don’t think I have. I can’t say I’ve kept every book given, but I don’t think I’ve deliberately regifted a gift. If it’s a book I really loved, then I’ll probably just end up buying a new copy to give to that person. Because if I really loved a book, I’m not giving it away.

And there’s no one I dislike enough to just regift them a book I didn’t like. I feel like that’s a waste of energy, and the snub would probably be lost on the person receiving the book.

HAVE YOU EVER SAID YOU’VE READ A BOOK WHEN YOU HAVEN’T?

Yep. College. I was an English Lit Major. While I read every single book in high school, I definitely bullshitted my way through a few boring as hell “classical” reads in college. I don’t even regret it, and I’m still amazed at how well I did on the quizzes and tests that were about the various books.

HAVE YOU EVER BORROWED A BOOK AND NOT RETURNED IT?

I want to say, “definitely no” and I’m pretty confident, but I don’t truly know. I do know that I let someone borrow my copy of Deeper than the Dead by Tami Hoag and I never got it back. I have no idea who I lent it to, or when, but I had to buy myself another copy because my original was never returned to me.

Tbh, I’m still bitter because I had no intention of reading the book, but I did for whatever reason and ended up being thoroughly enthralled and really enjoying it.

HAVE YOU EVER READ A SERIES OUT OF ORDER?

Yes, but rarely. And only when the series doesn’t require it. Like, the series that have new MCs each book, but they all exist in the same universe – those I’m not as picky about, especially when I’ve read the series before.

But usually, I will read them in order because my brain tells me I have to.

HAVE YOU EVER SPOILED A BOOK FOR SOMEONE?

Probably, but not on purpose. I try really hard not to though.

HAVE YOU EVER DOG EARED A BOOK?

Yep. Sometimes you have no other choice. I don’t like doing it with most of my books, but some of them I could care less. Any book I had to read for College, dog eared.

HAVE YOU EVER TOLD SOMEONE YOU DON’T OWN A BOOK WHEN YOU DO?

Maybe on accident? I don’t know what the reason behind this would be. I’ve definitely forgotten that I own certain books, so I’m sure at one point in time, I did.

HAVE YOU EVER TOLD SOMEONE YOU HAVEN’T READ A BOOK WHEN YOU HAVE?

Again, maybe? I’ve been reading for so long, and sometimes titles can be confusing – especially when they’re really similar. But I don’t purposefully do this. I don’t see the point. Because if you lie, then they might ask you about the book and you have to bs your answers or admit you didn’t read it.

HAVE YOU EVER SKIPPED A CHAPTER OR A SECTION OF A BOOK?

If we’re talking books I had to read in college, then fuck yes. All the time. If we’re talking about what I read for fun, no. Do I sometimes skim read a book, sure? But I don’t just not read sections just because.

HAVE YOU EVER BAD MOUTHED A BOOK YOU ACTUALLY LIKED?

Yes. The whole Twilight series. You know that time after the craze, where everyone acted like “omfg I can’t believe I was into Twilight, lol how dumb”. Now I embrace that I was a Twihard, because who cares? Without that series, current YA wouldn’t be nearly as popular as it is now.

This was a really fun tag and I’m so glad that I stumbled across it! I’m not going to tag anyone in particular, but if you do this tag, let me know! I’d love to check out your answers.

  1. Ok, definitely doing this tag! Also, I did the same thing in college. I took a theatre literature class where we had to read a play for every class and sometimes I just didn’t have time to read it and had to spark notes it 🙈 Still managed to get an A though!

    1. LOL I took a theater course, and BS’d my way through it. We had to go see a play and I just read online reviews to “review it” 🙈
but as an eng lit major, the sheer amount of dense crap I had to read – no one has time for all of it 😂
