I can’t believe that we’re already in June.
How the fuck is it already June?
I swear we’ve entered into the movie Click, and someone is just hitting the fast forward button, because again, how the fuck is it June?
Now I’m having a crisis because we’re halfway through the year and that’s insane. I simultaneously feel like time is speeding by, but also not moving at all. Nothing changes, everything is just the same monotonous repetitive cycle day in and day out. Thank goodness for books – otherwise I don’t know what I would do with myself.
This tag was created by Chami, but I stumbled back upon it over on Truffle’s Literary Wonders – make sure you check out Emika’s post! I did this tag last year and really loved it, so I figured I would do it again this year! I’m not going to tag anyone in particular, but if you do, do this tag, feel free to tag me so I can check out your answers!
Let’s dive in!
Best book you’ve read so far in 2020
Crownchasers, Blade of Secrets, Disenchanted
All three of these stuck with me long after finishing them and just overall blew me away with just how good they were. 10/10 recommend.
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020
Crush the King, A Twist of the Blade
I’ve read a few sequels this year (not counting some smutty series) but these two were really good, really engaging and just wholly enjoyable. They leave you on the edge of your seat.
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
A Pho Love Story, Made in Korea, Daughter of Sparta
I’m woefully behind, I know! I’m trying, I swear.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Ebonwilde, Untethered, Beyond the End of the World, Rise Up From the Embers, XOXO, You’ve Reached Sam, Like a Love Song
I mean, the list can go on, but just off the top of my head…
Biggest disappointment
These Violent Delights, Go the Distance, Last Chance Books, Realm Breaker
Ooof, talk about not meeting expectations and excitement. I won’t tell you not to read them, but you won’t really be missing anything if you don’t.
Biggest surprise
Floodpath, Soulswift, Reclaimed
I didn’t love Sunshield when I read it, but book 2 was fantastic. Soulswift was on my radar, but I didn’t expect it to absolutely wreck me and Reclaimed was just surprisingly good, whereas the first one was enjoyable but kind of blah.
Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
S.M. Gaither, Rebecca Coffindaffer
High Fantasy and Science Fiction – two genres that I love, and two authors who excel at enticing and engaging the reader with fantastic plot, amazing characters and just an amazing story.
Newest fictional crush
Jfc, there are too many to choose from. But currently, Shadow Beast from Jaymin Eve’s Shadow Beast Shifter trilogy. Don’t come for me LOL
Newest favorite character
Both Red and Eammon from For the Wolf occupy this spot right now. I just loved them so much.
Book that made you cry
For the Wolf – not full on tears, but my eyes got watery and hot. I didn’t expect it, which makes it all the better. 10/10 recommend.
Book that made you happy
Amelia Unabridged, Kisses & Croissants, The Upside of Falling
Basically, just about every YA Contemporary I’ve read this year (minus a couple of exceptions) have just been so good, and so heartwarming, and so happy inducing. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them.
The most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
My FairyLoot An Ember in the Ashes series. They’re stunning. They’re over on FL’s insta, so if you haven’t seen them yet, head over there. I freaking love them.
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
All of them? Honestly, there are too many to count or list. We’d be here for hours.
Favorite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year?
I’m going to assume it’s going to the JLA’s Wicked – it’s over on PassionFlix. I still need to watch it, But I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy it. But I did enjoy Those Who Wish Me Dead – which is based on a book.
No, OMG, is it Mid-Year Freak Out Time ALREADY? I really need to catch up on my reading.
Thanks for sharing! 💕
