I struggled to figure out how to start this post. I can’t tell you why the words didn’t come to me, but I opened the word doc and *poof* nothing. No words. I just stared at a blank page until I saw double.
So here I am, with no idea, no motivation so I figured I’d just start typing. It’s been a while since I’ve done any kind of life update, so let’s go.
Quick Recap/Update before I dive into what I’m reading and watching.
You might have noticed that I’ve not been posting as much. For about a month now, it’s been a bit of a struggle to find the time, energy and motivation to create content. I have a full-time job, 40 hours/week and right now it’s a bit chaotic. It’s also hot as hell at work, and that saps my energy like nothing else. So already, I’m tired by the time I go home. Then I have to come home and do all the stuff that I couldn’t do because of work – i.e. walk Codigo, make dinner, make tomorrow’s lunch, shower and squeeze some kind of nap in. There are some days that I’m so wiped from work, that I legit can’t function without a nap. I also have to do blog stuff, read and try to write.
I just don’t physically have the time. It’s frustrating and I found myself not really caring if I put content out. So, I cut back. Took a step back. For the next while, you’re probably only going to see 1 post per day. I don’t want to completely stop blogging, because I do still love it and I’ve worked my ass off to get where I am, I just need less stress. You also might see me just not post, or take a long weekend off. This will allow me time to actually unwind and even possibly get some writing in. But it’ll also let me schedule more posts in advance, taking stress off me during the week.
And with not posting 2x a day, I don’t have to speed read books in 2 days. I was burning out. Since taking a step back, I’ve actually be able to read for fun – like, read books that I don’t feel the desire to review. I can just get lost in a story, completely stress free. I honestly can’t remember the last time I read a book where I didn’t feel pressured to review it.
So, I’ll still be around, and I’ll still be putting out content! Don’t worry! I just won’t be as active.
With all that being said, let’s take a look at what I’m currently reading and watching – there are quite a few things!
The Kingdom’s Crown (Inheritance of Hunger #3) – Kathryn Moon
This is the third book in the series, and I’m utterly obsessed with it. The whole series. I saw someone on BookTok recommend this, so I downloaded the audiobook for book 1 and was instantly invested. It’s RH with 7 love interests – I know, it’s a lot – but omfg, I love them all. It’s like the perfect blend of spice and plot – and y’all the plot is so good. The spice is fantastic, not gonna lie, but the plot! I’m thoroughly enjoying this trilogy.
The Return (Titan #1) – Jennifer L. Armentrout
I did an impromptu re-read of the Covenant Series with a friend – she’d never read it before – and now she wants to buddy read the Titan Series so she can find out what happens to Seth. I’m totally on board, since I haven’t read these books since their respective releases. As I’m writing this, I haven’t actually started this book, but by the time you’re reading it, I will have. I can’t wait to be back in this world.
Starlight (The Starlight Trilogy #1) – Lauren Jade Case
I’m about 27% into this book and really enjoying it! It kind of reminds me of the YA I used to read, but it also kind of gives me Lux Series vibes, and I’m totally here for it. It’s late tonight, but tomorrow night I’m hoping to knock out a little more of it. I’m so excited I was able to snag an eARC of this because I’ve been dying to read it since I first heard about it.
Barbarian Alien (Ice Planet Barbarians #2) – Ruby Dixon
Do I need to explain this one? I read the first one and while it’s not good, I get why they’re addicting. I’m treating this series as a wholly mindless read, for pure enjoyment. I don’t plan on bingeing them, but from time to time, I’ll pick one up and inhale it. Lol
The Boys (Prime)
We’re still on season 1 LOL – we either watch a few episodes at a time, or don’t touch it for weeks at a time. There is no in between. I’ve enjoyed what we have watched though.
SEE (Apple TV)
We just started this over the weekend. I’m enjoying it, but I honestly don’t know if I actually knew what the premise of the show was. It’s SFF which I love, and it kind of feels like if The 100 and The Walking Dead had a baby. It’ll be interesting to see how the narrative progresses.
H2O: Just Add Water (Netflix)
I had an urge. I have no other explanation.
Physical (Apple TV)
I wouldn’t have chosen this myself, but my dad turned it on and now we’re all kind of invested. I mean, “A quietly tortured woman supports her husband’s bid for state assembly while battling personal demons until she finds release through the world of aerobics.” Do with that what you will, but honestly the show isn’t bad at all.
Let me know in the comments what you’re currently reading and watching!
