A vicious demonic plot. A curse decades in the making. An epic love that burns hotter than the very fires of hell…
Charlotte…
All Charley’s nightmares are real.
Demons. Dark witches. Her murderous uncle.
With her soul bound to an ancient demon lord and her sister taken captive by a monster, hope is in short supply.
But Charley will not go down without a fight. Not when it comes to her sister, and not when it comes to the vampire king who’s claimed her heart.
Even if it means siding with a brutal enemy from her past.
Even if it means making a choice that will alter the course of her life… for eternity.
Dorian….
Dorian never wanted his father’s crown or the secrets that came with it.
He never wanted to fall in love with the seductive stranger he’d ravaged in a closet, either.
But fate had other plans.
Now, with the enemies of House Redthorne lurking in every shadow, demons threatening to destroy his city, and an ancient lord of hell laying claim on the woman who’s set Dorian’s very soul on fire, the vampire king has only one mission:
Burn. Them. All.
Even if it means betraying his father’s memory.
Even if it means making the darkest sacrifice of his immortal life…
This will be a spoiler free review. I listened to the audiobook via Audible. Omfg, this book. This series. I’m in love. This was a great way to end this trilogy – with just enough left open for spin offs – and thank god Gabriel is getting his own trilogy.
It’s been weeks and I’m still bummed that this trilogy is over. Yeah, I know it basically carries over into Gabriel’s trilogy – which I’m 2/3’s of the way through. But, like…I miss Dorian and Charley. Their chemistry and relationship is so good. Hell, so addicting. They’re not perfect, have a shit ton of baggage, but they keep showing up. They keep trying. And the shit they go through in this book? That ending?
I want more.
I need more.
I also desperately wish Dorian were real and not fictional – but that’s a whole other thing.
By the time I got to this book, I’d already inhaled the first two and was obsessed. If you’ve read my reviews for the first two books Dark Deception and Dark Seduction, you already know that I’m in love. I’m so glad I was in a vampire mood, and book 1 had been on my radar. It was exactly what I wanted.
And honestly, I’m still obsessed.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect in this book. Lowkey, I think I was kind of dreading what was going to happen and the fact that it was sending. I don’t think I knew at the time of reading, that Gabriel was getting a trilogy. I could be wrong; it has been a quite a few weeks and a vacation since I inhaled this book.
After the ending that was Dark Seduction, I knew things would probably get a bit crazy, shit would hit the fan, Dorian would probably overreact and get all territorial. The stakes are so high – Charley’s life hangs in the balance. The plans they come up with, the unwavering determination that Dorian is going to win this fight…it’s all so intense and so good. The big show down that leads to the final showdown…the betrayal and fracturing of the Redthorne Brothers.
I mean, I couldn’t have predicted any of it and I loved every minute of it. I’m so damn glad I decided to dive into Dark Deception because now I have a new auto-buy author and I cannot wait to read everything Sarah has to offer. I love her writing, the way she drags me into a story and has me falling in love with her characters. The books are wholly addicting and so easy to get lost in and they make my work day go by so quickly. I just get to tune the world out. and get sucked into a fantastical one with strong female characters and sexy male characters…and the spice doesn’t hurt LOL!
If you’re looking for a vampire read, because like me, you want more vamps – definitely check out this series – you won’t be disappointed.
