I’ve pretty much been listening/reading the same series for half of the month, so this update is going to be pretty short. I haven’t really been watching anything either – at least nothing currently.
Idk. For the last few months work has overtaken my life, and the energy, drive or desire to do anything hasn’t existed. Only recently has the desire to write come back. I’m just kind of moving on autopilot right now. Very few things are holding my interest. I get about 3 episodes into a new show and grow bored. I started a TOG series reread because nothing new held my attention.
I’m hoping I’m crawling out of the stress hole work has put me in – wanting to write is a good sign. I’m also thinking of cutting way back on the blogging. Idk, I’m just not feeling it right now. It’s just an idea I’m toying with. But, let’s jump into the actual point of this post.
READING:
What Once Was Mine – Liz Braswell
I’ve been reading this for about a month. I need to finish it, but I’m kind of forcing myself at this point. Maybe I need to stop trying to love these Twisted Tales books. This one isn’t terrible, but it’s really history heavy and the format of the story isn’t working. It’s like The Princess Bride in that regard, but every time the narrator/listener interrupts the narration – I’m immediately pulled out of the story, and it takes me forever to dive in again.
Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas
This is only my second time reading this book – I haven’t read it since it first came out. And while I remember a lot – there’s definitely some stuff I have no recollection of. Clearly when I inhaled it the first time, I didn’t retain much. I’ve enjoyed this reread and I’m seriously enjoying this last book. I’m amazed at what Sarah did with this series. And I 100% need a tv series – like a really, really well done, accurate adaptation. It would be so epic and so good. It’s already cinematic af, so it should translate really well.
WATCHING:
Ted Lasso S2 (AppleTV)
Honestly, not as good as the first season, but still really enjoyable. I loved so much of it, but S1 was an unknown. You didn’t know what to expect and it set the bar so incredibly high. And while Ted and Co. are fantastic in this second season, I don’t think it met the bar of the first season.
CODA (AppleTV)
Watch this movie. Just do it. It’s easily become a new favorite and I think about it at least once a day.
Come From Away (AppleTV)
I’ve been dying to see this musical for ages, so when my friend told me it was coming to AppleTV I got really excited. I think all Broadway shows should have live performances recorded and streamed – or just available to purchase. I really don’t think it will hurt live, in person performance sales. Even if the show becomes available only after the shows finished it’s run. The soundtrack to this musical is amazing, and I love how it shows the different sides to humanity and how people can come together in a time of crisis.
