Vampire prince Gabriel Redthorne knew better than to fall in love with a witch. Jacinda Colburn claimed his heart, then nearly shoved a stake through it. For that, he should end her life—brutally and without remorse.

But with old enemies closing in fast and a dangerous new evil terrorizing New York—an evil only Jacinda can stop—Gabriel has one choice: trust her, or they’re both going down.

Risking his heart again was never part of the plan, but when a sneak attack leaves Jacinda on death’s doorstep, Gabriel knows he’s in too deep to turn back now. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect his little moonflower. To stand by her side as they burn their foes to ash.

But if there’s one thing life in the shadows has taught them, it’s this:

No matter how many enemies you destroy today, the ghosts of the past will always hunt you down.

And one way or another, they’ll always make you pay…

This will be a spoiler free review. I listened to the audiobook via Audible. I fucking love Gabriel and Jacinda. I honestly didn’t know I could love Gabriel more than his brother but fuck me. He’s got like ten times the moodiness going on and he’s a giant fucking softy. If you want to check out my spoiler free review for Heart of Thorns.

So, when I finished this book – which I loved – book 3 wasn’t on audio yet and I was distraught. It’s now on audio and I’m planning on reading it very soon – probs next week – and I cannot wait.

I can’t express just how much I love these books, love Sarah Piper’s writing. I just need to you to pick them up and read them. I’m not kidding.

If I didn’t already love Gabriel and want to give him all the hugs, this book would have cemented those feelings. The chemistry he has for Jacinda and the internal conflict he has with wanting her and wanting to protect her – it’s so good.

What is it about possessive supernatural beings wanting to vehemently protect the person they deem to hate the most? Like, someone else can’t say anything bad about that person, but the Alpha-ahole can, and is the only one allowed to. Why is that so damn satisfying?

And Jacinda…phew. I love diving deeper into who she is as a character. The power she has? In terms of magic and over Gabriel – it’s impressive. Its addicting. I love that Gabriel had all these plans on breaking her, using her and she’s like, nah, that’s not happening.

Ugh. I just love the two of them together.

Plot wise – this book doesn’t stop! It just keeps going and rolling and I was so invested. I started this when I had to unfortunately work on a Saturday, and four hours flew by. Like, one minute I was starting the book around 8AM and then the next thing I knew, it was past noon. Like, I can’t tell you where those 4 hours went, but I was wholly enraptured by this book. By Gabriel and Jacinda. The stakes just keep getting higher and higher. The clock is ticking down for all of them. There were so many reveals and it all just makes you want more and more.

I’m so glad that book 3 is already out on audio and I can’t wait to dive into it. I don’t know what I’m going to do once I finish it. I’m so in love with these books, the world, the characters that I feel like I’m going to spiral once I have no more to inhale. I’m 100% diving into Sarah’s other books, I already have Tarot Academy queued up in Audible. I’m not kidding when I say dive into Sarah’s Redthorne Royals books – you really won’t regret it.
