Hey! I’m Alexa, and my room has pretty much become a library for myself and my friends. I’ve had to build wall shelves to hold all my books, and yet I never seem to have enough space. I’ve always loved books, and will read just about anything.
May 2016 I graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with a BA in English Literature – no I don’t have any plans to be a teacher. In fact I want to write…well I do write.
Currently I’m working on a Science Fiction Dystopian called Destiny.
It takes place in space, on board the ship Destiny. The story is told from a few different POV’s, but mainly McKenna Hampton (my main female character). She has to deal with the loss of her parents, while learning to navigate a new home and new people. While on board it is her job to solve a specific problem – which needs to be solved before everyone on board reaches the new planet where they will live.
I’ve been working on this novel since Spring 2012, and it has gone through countless versions, plots and rewrites. I actually had the full story written out, only to re-plot the entire story in 2015, so now, in 2016 I’m halfway through the rewrite, and finally it’s the story it was always meant to be!
Tbh, I’ve tried this whole blogging thing before, and I failed epically. But now that I’m out of school, I’m giving this another go. (I’m going to transfer some of my old book reviews over to this new site, and then I’m going to start fresh). I’ve also tried the whole YouTube vlogging thing back in 2012 – it’s hard to believe it was that long ago – I didn’t do to well at that either, between school and class work there wasn’t enough time. But my goal is to get back into both of those things.
If I’m not reading a book, I’m either writing, binge watching some T.V. show – currently science fiction shows are my weakness – painting, walking around a book store, or playing with my dog, Charlie, a 90lb black lab who likes to sleep all day. I’m hoping that this blog is useful to anyone who likes to hide behind books, and explore thousands of unique worlds. I hope this blog, which will feature reviews and tips for writing, helps anyone who needs it. All of this is a process right?
