Currently Reading & Watching #27 + Little Life Update

I struggled to figure out how to start this post. I can’t tell you why the words didn’t come to me, but I opened the word doc and *poof* nothing. No words. I just stared at a blank page until I saw double.

So here I am, with no idea, no motivation so I figured I’d just start typing. It’s been a while since I’ve done any kind of life update, so let’s go.

Quick Recap/Update before I dive into what I’m reading and watching.

You might have noticed that I’ve not been posting as much. For about a month now, it’s been a bit of a struggle to find the time, energy and motivation to create content. I have a full-time job, 40 hours/week and right now it’s a bit chaotic. It’s also hot as hell at work, and that saps my energy like nothing else. So already, I’m tired by the time I go home. Then I have to come home and do all the stuff that I couldn’t do because of work – i.e. walk Codigo, make dinner, make tomorrow’s lunch, shower and squeeze some kind of nap in. There are some days that I’m so wiped from work, that I legit can’t function without a nap. I also have to do blog stuff, read and try to write.

I just don’t physically have the time. It’s frustrating and I found myself not really caring if I put content out. So, I cut back. Took a step back. For the next while, you’re probably only going to see 1 post per day. I don’t want to completely stop blogging, because I do still love it and I’ve worked my ass off to get where I am, I just need less stress. You also might see me just not post, or take a long weekend off. This will allow me time to actually unwind and even possibly get some writing in. But it’ll also let me schedule more posts in advance, taking stress off me during the week.

And with not posting 2x a day, I don’t have to speed read books in 2 days. I was burning out. Since taking a step back, I’ve actually be able to read for fun – like, read books that I don’t feel the desire to review. I can just get lost in a story, completely stress free. I honestly can’t remember the last time I read a book where I didn’t feel pressured to review it.

So, I’ll still be around, and I’ll still be putting out content! Don’t worry! I just won’t be as active.

With all that being said, let’s take a look at what I’m currently reading and watching – there are quite a few things! Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #27 + Little Life Update”

Currently Reading & Watching #26

Wow, I sat down to write this post and my mind went completely blank.

Between the heat & humidity, allergies and the fucking incessant noise coming from all these damn cicadas, my mental capacity is at an all-time low.

On a happier note, it’s a long weekend and I’ve been actively working on my WIP. I won’t go into too much detail since I’ll be doing a Writing Update at the end of the month – but I’ve really fallen back in love with my SF WIP. It’s not nearly as terrible as I think it is, and it’s actually kind of what I want to read right now.

But I’m constantly exhausted, so progress is slow going, but it is progress.

I’ve started a new show – it’s interesting. And I’m reading 2 different books right now.

So, let’s get into that. Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #26”

How are we at the end of another month? I swear the days are going by faster and faster.

I’ve been reading – though not to the extent of last month, and I’ve actually been watching shows and movies! I can’t seem to binge anything, but as long as I space out the episodes, then I don’t run into the “meh, I’m not feeling this anymore” stage.

And, everything I’ve watched in full, has left me wanting more – so maybe soon, I’ll be able to watch more than 1-2 episodes at a time, before I get bored!

What a weird goal to have lol.

I’ve read quite a few really good books this month, and right now I’ve got a few things started.

So, let’s dive in and check them out! Let me know what you’re reading and watching in the comments! Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #25”

I accidently dozed off instead of writing this post, so here we are. I’m actually reading a few things and watching a few things. Maybe I’m falling back into a rhythm where shows and movies actually hold my interest! I actually watched a movie over the weekend, and it kept my attention the whole time.

But let’s check out what I’m currently enjoying and let me know what you’re reading and writing as well. Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #24”

And just like that, February is almost over. It’s been exhausting honestly. Having acquired a new position at work – I’m tired all of the time. I was also been dealing with the looming knowledge that I was going to lose another dog and that stressed me out. So, needless to say, I’ve been inhaling stories in various formats this month like they were candy. Anything to take my mind off of life at large. Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #23”

It’s been awhile!

I’m slowly crawling my way back into shows and movies, but I’m still reading as much as ever. With working full time and working a job where I can listen to audiobooks for roughly 8 hours a day, I get a lot of reading done. But the great thing about audiobooks, is that they’re a whole production that plays out like a movie in my head – even more so than just reading them.

But I am happy that I’m slowly getting back into shows. I miss being able to turn my mind off and just enjoy something, with no pressure to review it.

So, let’s take a look at what I’m currently reading and watching! Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #22”

Well, it’s the end of another month…well just about the end.

The fact that 2020 is almost over and NYE still feels like it was last week, or something is crazy.

Where the hell has the year gone?

I’m still not really watching that much, outside of the few shows I watch on live TV. I can’t wait to have the time and energy to catch up on everything. But here we go! Continue reading “Currently Reading & Watching #21”

I am and I am not shocked that it’s the end of another month. I know time feels shorter because it’s relative to age and how you perceive it, but damn if 2020 isn’t a freaking time warp.

I haven’t physically read many books this month – with work occupying like 60% of my time, and Codigo occupying like 35% of my time, it leaves very little time for me.

And quite honestly, I hate it.

These days, if it’s not an audiobook, or an eARC I have some kind of commitment (other than just reviewing it) I rarely touch a physical book, or even an eCopy. Y’all. That’s how I destress, and I’ve barely been able to do that so I’m in a fantastic place right now lol.

I digress…like always, so let’s take a look at what I’m currently reading and watching.

I don’t know what it is, but I haven’t really been in a show kind of mood. I’m not really watching anything consistently and even then, I will probably only watch 1, maybe 2 episodes before I’m bored.

But that changed with Julie and The Phantoms – I highly recommend watching that show. It’s amazing. I bought the soundtrack and now I can’t stop listening to it.

Since shows aren’t fully holding my attention, I’m rewatching a few just for background noise basically.

As for reading – since I’m at work all day, I’m inhaling audiobooks. I usually finish one every day and a half, unless it’s super long. This means I’m blowing through my credits so quickly, but it can’t be helped.

Show Rec – Julie and the Phantoms!

I’m bringing you a quickie post today! It’s Sunday, we’re potentially going to look at puppies and I just binged an amazing show.

I’m spiraling down an obsession hole, and I want to spend all my money on merch.

I haven’t been in any kind of mood to binge a show, or even watch more than 2 consecutive episodes for months. So, imagine my surprise when I inhaled all nine episodes of Julie and the Phantom. Continue reading “Show Rec – Julie and the Phantoms!”
